Dr. Jiyoung An is a clinician-scholar dedicated to bridging structural inequities through interdisciplinary research, community engagement, and culturally responsive, relational care. Her work spans youth leadership, community development, cultural and gender diversity, and immigrant health, with a growing clinical focus on mental health to better support individuals and families navigating trauma, cultural transitions, and identity development.
With a PhD from New York University, an MPH from Seoul National University, and a BSN from Korea University, Dr. An is advancing her clinical training in Mental Health Counseling at the University of Pennsylvania.
Her professional career in the U.S. has centered on academic faculty appointments and advanced research at leading institutions, including New York University, Rutgers University, Stanford University, and the University of Hawaiʻi. A prolific scholar, she has authored approximately 50 peer-reviewed publications and more than 40 scholarly presentations, and has collaborated with global organizations such as the World Health Organization, the National Institutes of Health, and the Korea International Cooperation Agency.
Grounded in cultural humility and trauma-informed principles, Dr. An founded the Azwie Foundation to serve South Jersey and Philadelphia communities. The Foundation reflects her vision of integrating research, youth development, and community-based initiatives with expanding clinical insight in mental health—ultimately addressing not only individual needs but also the broader social and structural conditions that shape long-term well-being and resilience.

Dr. Jiyoung An is the founder of the Azwie Foundation, bringing over 20 years of distinguished expertise in healthcare research to the forefront of community advocacy. A prolific researcher and educator, she integrates academic rigor with advanced mental health counseling to address the complex challenges facing immigrant families, youth, and gender minorities. Dr. An notably leads the Youth Research Empowerment Program, mentoring local students through the rigors of academic inquiry and scholarly publication to cultivate a new generation of data-literate leaders.
A champion of evidence-based community care, Dr. An specializes in translating socio-psychological research into impactful counseling and educational initiatives for multicultural communities. Her vision for the Azwie Foundation is to serve as a vital bridge between rigorous research and compassionate practice. By fostering a professional environment where knowledge-sharing and holistic resilience intersect, she empowers individuals to navigate systemic challenges and thrive within their communities.
Robert Montague is a leadership expert and dedicated life coach with over 30 years of experience in personal development and public service. His career includes four years in the military and over two decades in law enforcement across the U.S. and Australia. As the founder of CTR Counseling in Australia, Robert has spent the past decade empowering individuals to navigate life’s most difficult transitions through specialized coaching and a unique perspective on resilience.
Beyond his professional practice, Robert is a passionate advocate for youth development, serving as a coach, mentor, and proponent for drug and alcohol prevention. His lifelong commitment to community growth has been recognized with numerous Public Service Awards and Letters of Appreciation. At the Azwie Foundation, Robert leverages his vast experience to mentor individuals, helping them overcome obstacles and unlock their full potential through disciplined yet compassionate impact.
Kyungae Chung is a seasoned leader in early childhood development with over 20 years of experience in New Jersey’s Korean-American community. As the founder of BLC Preschool, she promotes a “whole child” approach that integrates cultural identity, academic readiness, and a biblically grounded curriculum. Her work has helped immigrant families navigate dual identities with confidence and faith.
As a member of the Azwie Foundation’s External Advisory Board, she bridges theory and practice, offering on-the-ground insights into identity-focused education. Her experience ensures that Azwie’s initiatives remain rooted in the real needs of diverse families, fostering confident and values-driven global citizens.
Hyun Joo Lee brings over 20 years of clinical and technological expertise to her role as a Business Application Analyst at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. A specialist in nursing informatics, she excels at bridging the gap between sophisticated data systems and real-world clinical needs.
On the Azwie Foundation’s Liaison, Hyun Joo focuses on making health and digital innovation user-friendly and impactful for families in the diaspora. Her contribution is uniquely informed by her long-standing personal experience with bicultural counseling, which gives her a profound, first-hand understanding of the psychological and cultural complexities faced by immigrant families. By integrating this empathetic perspective with her professional analytical rigor, she ensures that Azwie’s initiatives are not only evidence-based but also deeply compassionate and attuned to the holistic well-being of the community.
Anson Goo is an undergraduate student at the Georgia Institute of Technology, majoring in Computer Science with a minor in Financial Technology. Driven by a desire to help others and create lasting impact, he brings his technical background to the Azwie Foundation, building and maintaining the foundation's digital presence as well as the tools used for internal operations.
Tiana Douglas-Brown is a Licensed Associate Counselor in New Jersey and a doctoral student in Behavioral Health at Arizona State University. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s School and Mental Health Counseling program, she provides trauma-informed care to adolescents and young adults across school, community, and private practice settings in South Jersey and Philadelphia. Her work emphasizes culturally responsive, holistic approaches, with research focused on parenting, emotional connectedness, and mental health outcomes in African American families.
As a researcher-practitioner, she integrates clinical work with academic research to expand access to evidence-based care. Through her work with the Azwie Foundation, she brings a culturally informed perspective that strengthens its commitment to diversity and community-centered impact.
Dr. Paul Kim serves as an External Advisory Board Member of the Azwie Foundation, bringing over 20 years of leadership at the intersection of education, technology, and global innovation. As the former Associate Dean and Chief Technology Officer of the Stanford Graduate School of Education, he has pioneered international initiatives focused on advancing digital learning, mobile empowerment, and scalable social impact. He is also the founder of Seeds of Empowerment, a global non-profit incubator that leverages technology to reach underserved communities worldwide.
With a multidisciplinary background spanning education, IT, and entrepreneurship, Dr. Kim has advised national governments and international organizations on sustainable systems and strategic growth. His work emphasizes a "results-driven, human-centered" approach, bridging academic research with practical, real-world applications. At the Azwie Foundation, he provides strategic guidance to ensure that our community-centered initiatives are grounded in pedagogical excellence and cutting-edge innovation.
Dr. Kyungeh An is a distinguished nurse scientist and the Associate Dean for Research & Global Engagement at Jefferson College of Nursing. With over 20 years of expertise, her research focuses on cardiovascular health and health equity, utilizing interdisciplinary and technology-enabled interventions for underserved communities. Notably, she is a leader in integrating Generative AI into nursing science to enhance research efficiency and clinical outcomes.
As an External Advisory Board Member for the Azwie Foundation, Dr. An provides strategic leadership in research development and global collaboration.
